happiness is just a thing called feces.

it would be nice to be a little more profound.

orlando magic, you are so close, and yet...2 overtime games so far, and you lost both of them. last night, you led by 5 with less than a minute left, and lost still. you are good enough, that's for sure. but...

herb geller is a pretty obscure alto player, and yet, i haven't heard a young player today who is even close to him. the same goes for a lot of other dudes from the past.

rev wright, when did you become rev wrong? "them jews" are keeping obama away from you? no, my friend, his thirst for power is keeping him away from you. let's not move the blame from the guy who made the decision to cut off his old friend and pastor. this shot at the jews is kind of a low blow, no? yes, there are stiff jews, but there are stiff gentiles as well. sadly, it now seems that wright, as well as obama, belong in this latter category.

doesn't silence sound weird once a record ends? it always feels like there should be one more song.

i have landed a summer job. i'm kind of rip torn about it, but i have a rule; i don't look for work, but when i am offered a job, i don't turn it down. this is what happened here. on the plus side, it only runs from july 6 to august 14, giving me a few weeks of freedom during the summer. also, it's a 9:30 to 3 day, which is close to ideal. only 5 and a half hours too long.

my regular gig ends on the 24th. not a bad gig. i've been playing ball alot lately, on company time. shades of my dad, who fed both his jazz and ball obsessions while driving a bus for the same town. while i don't have enough time during the day to browse for albums, i do bring headphones for pandora and youtube during down time. and i get out at 2:45, allowing me enough time to hit looney tunes and stereo jack's, and still get home before the muggers camp out at the train station.

hey, it may not be much, but it's mine.
