obama will not apologize for the role the u.s played in the chilean coup of 1973. even bill clinton apologized for american involvement in guatemala. obama told us he is more concerned with going forward. so are child rapists and serial murderers, but somehow, we still have an interest in prosecuting them for their past crimes. any decent society is very concerned with the crimes of the past. this posture is beyond arrogant. it is hateful, and would be reviled by any decent society. of course, we don't live in one of those.

george bush the elder once said that he would never apologize for the u.s, whatever the facts might be. once again, my friends, i think we have located continuity we can believe in.
