obama on iraq

"They need to take responsibility for their country and for their sovereignty.”

they need to take responsibility for their country? just what do they need to take responsibility for? our bombing of their homes, schools, mosques, hospitals, electrical grids, and weddings? did they attack our bombs with their existence? did the jews need to take responsibility for the conditions in the concentration camps? did the slaves need to take responsibility for the conditions in the slave ships? did the vietnamese need to take responsibility for the conditions of their bombed villages, ravaged crops, and poisoned air? did the indigenous need to take responsibility for the diseases and massacres brought to them by the europeans? what arrogance! you want to talk about blaming the victim! and it passes without comment! not a critical word in the mainstream media, not a comment on cable tv pointing out the utter absurdity of bombing a nation for 6 years, and then lecturing them on their responsibility for the condition of their nation. and remember too that this is coming from the candidate of change. this from the guy who made millions of misled fools weep with joy. this from the fellow who had bill cosby placing pictures of his departed descendants in the stall before he cast his "historic" vote.

who are we to determine what iraq needs to do? what are we, a frustrated parent, waiting patiently for the chastised child to do better?

and how can a bombed nation "take responsibility for its sovereignty?" we have already taken iraq's sovereignty away by destroying its government, cities, villages, and to a great extent, its people. to then turn around and tell them to function as a sovereign nation is beyond bizarre. it's like stealing a person's money and then lambasting them for being poor. and again, the comment goes without comment. it's reported blandly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, like wind. the sanity of it all is quite insane.

we have beaten up a nation, and now declare it guilty of being bruised. and we nod our heads in agreement, for the candidate of change surely must know of what he speaks.

i ask you to go back and read that obama quote once more, and try to process it.

they are words fit for a society of nut jobs. we are a nation of mental patients, so mired in our own bullshit that we believe ourselves to be functioning examples of modern normality.

but our belief in our collective sanity don't make it so.

just ask an iraqi.
