US Attack Kills 18 in Pakistan

In Pakistan, at least eighteen people have been killed and another fifty wounded in an apparent US missile attack. A Pakistani security official said the victims were al-Qaeda militants and operatives. The attack occurred in the tribal area of Kurram near Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan.

i realize these little posts get old, but i have my reasons. today, i would like to compare the silence on the blood we spill with the recent convictions of various saddam hussein era politicians for war crimes. it has been six years since we started bombing iraq. that followed brutal sanctions, which in turn followed our initial bombing of iraq. all in all, it is likely that over 2 million people have been killed by the two wars and sanctions. and yet, not one american politician has been convicted of a thing. bill clinton, the bushes, and their various cronies, are all free. no one comments on this hypocrisy. no one in the media wonders why we can kill people with impunity, and then try our defeated opponents for crimes which are much smaller in scale than the ones we are currently taking part in. none of the so called hip late night hosts joke about it. the issue is not to be debated. it just is, like wind or rain. there is one set of rules for the powerful, and another set for those the powerful have demonized and defeated. and we, the people, just nod our heads as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

and in the america of your lord, 2009, it is.
