new post, old times

guess who has the most troops in iraq, after the u.s. and britain? georgia! yeah, now it's coming into focus.

the front page of the local paper today showed a picture of a little boy from georgia, crying. funny, but i don't remember seeing one iraqi child crying on the front page of the paper, or on any page of the paper, for that matter, in the 6 and a half years that we have been destroying that country. this child from georgia, by the way, looked well fed and was wearing nice clothes. i don't mean to belittle his suffering, but come on. this nation blindly bombs whoever it wants, and then pretends to be outraged by the foreign policies of other nations? it's disgusting. and the media is right there with them. i haven't heard one word which brings this hypocrisy up, outside of alternative outlets.

ran into a guy that i took a grad class with, and who also taught at brookline high. he recently got a degree in education "leadership" at harvard. all the dude did was talk, something about equity and working with the inner city schools and networking. seemed into it. fuck him.

maybe in 500 years, if the species is still around, we will finally catch up with eric dolphy.

if mccain is cancer, obama is a heart attack. i would prefer a heart attack, but i wouldn't choose it.

obama; gateway to the nightmare.

straight life was not a gay read. that line may not have been high art, although art was usually high, but i like to pepper my readers with puns.

education leadership? you want to teach the young? ask them why the media shows them a picture of a crying kid in georgia and not a bombed school in iraq. ask them why 30,000 children starving every day is not news. we learn by questioning, by digging deeper than we are supposed to. we don't learn from half assed partnerships that are supposedly in place to "close the achievement gap." the question is, what are we achieving? achievement, in and of itself, is neither good or bad. europeans achieved taking over the americas from the indigenous populations. that doesn't make it right. closing the achievement gap sounds a little like "making non-whites as bad as the whites," doesn't it? kind of like gays and women in the military and blacks on the police force. again, what is it that we are trying to achieve. let's say you have a game where the object of the game is to beat the other guy senseless. should you try your best to win the game, or walk away from it due to its senseless and violent nature? sadly, you can not get a master's in "walking away." but that doesn't make it the wrong choice.

dolphin dance just came on pandora. maiden voyage. well, it beats made in china.

speaking of china, what about the spanish basketball players putting their fingers to their eyes in order to "look chinese." awful. i suppose it isn't too surprising. somewhere, columbus and his crew from 1492 are happy. but yeah, terrible. these european countries aren't so hot when it comes to race either. the average american may be a prick, but he is certainly not alone. pau gasol claimed it was all in fun. well listen, paul asshole, fuck you!

was that in good fun?

well, at least i enjoyed it.
