Iraqi Girl Killed in US Attack
In Iraq, an eight-year-old girl has been reportedly killed in an attack by US troops. Witnesses say several other civilians were injured when a US military convoy opened fire on a crowd of Shiite pilgrims traveling to the holy city of Karbala. The military says the shootings were accidental, following a mistaken weapons discharge.
a mistaken weapons discharge? does that even warrant a comment? let us stop and think about this for a second; someone has just lost a daughter. what if obama or bush or clinton were to lose one of their children in such a manner? perhaps they would think about war in a different way. perhaps they wouldn't describe the loss of a child as "collateral damage." so, that becomes the question for us; why do we have the right to kill their children, when they don't have the right to kill ours?
a simple question, but one that our society will never ask, much less answer.
